Active against hate barrier-free portal

The German Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth (BMFSFJ) co-ordinates the objectives of family and youth policies at a national level. The mission of the ministry is to develop ways to act on the fundamental issues of family and youth policies and to co-operate with the its partners – other federal ministries, the federal states and sponsors. The ministry is responsible for managing the specialist co-operation within individual areas, for the initiation of projects and measures related to policies for children and young people, and research into the situation of young people.

The ministry wanted a modern, intuitive Internet presence, as a portal to subsections of the action programme. Dynamic design elements would create an informative and clear structure to ensure maximum appeal of the programme information. In addition to the comprehensive mailing functions, the specifications called for a dynamic, configurable event calendar, as well as content maintenance using a role-based CMS system. The key area of the requirement was completely barrier-free implementation in accordance with conformity level AAA/BITV Level II, as well as high quality source text generation with extensive browser compatibility.

artnology GmbH took responsibility for the concept, layout and barrier-free implementation of the Internet portal for the ministry’s action programmes. Building on the tried and tested CMS system Zope, a dynamic design concept was developed for convenient and uncomplicated content maintenance, as well as easy administration of mailings and events. In addition to high quality source text generation and extensive browser compatibility, special attention was paid to the strict implementation in accordance with conformity level AAA/BITV Level II, to maximise the potential audience reached.
